I think I've figured out why I find it so hard to work in Microsoft Word: so many of the "features" really distract you from the actual writing process. Most are associated with the editorial process, which can make you doubt yourself. Active spellcheck the worst of these.On twitter.com

And having something actively checking my grammar is my nightmare. The important thing in writing is getting something down. The rest of it is utter distraction. Which is why I'm an old fart and use a text editor for writing.Permalink On twitter.com
