      1. As an educator, I try to find patterns in using technologies that make them easier to learn. When I see students who are good at this kind of pattern recognition, I know they will go far if they have enough curiosity and confidence.

      It takes a special kind of compassion for your audience to be an effective communicator, not the desire to make flashy visuals/dashboards. Sometimes the most effective visualizations are the simplest, and lessen the cognitive load for your audience.

    This also means that you have to understand the question that your audience wants answered, and tailor the presentation to educating them. Highlighting subsets of the data isn't cheating; it's guiding audiences through the data.

      Compassion and empathy for your audience is what will make your work stand out to the right people. The rest is noise.
