          1. Reminder to self: perfect is not just the enemy of good. Perfect is also the enemy of joy and delight. You can’t enjoy anything. Seeking perfection also disconnects us from others and can weaken relationships.

          When I don’t share something because it is not perfect, I am throwing away all the connections with others I could make by sharing it. Some roughness is fine. Some roughness is fine.

        Roughness is also what makes things approachable, and is a sign that you can approach things playfully. Overly high standards just suck the joy and playfullness out of life.

      I’ve made my career out of wonderment and awe. When I wonder and am curious about something, that makes delight and joy for me and others. Curiosity should be a higher priority than perfectionism.

    So when someone makes something from that place of wonderment and awe, I need to treat it with respect and joy. And share and delight in the work of others rather than being jealous. It’s a hard road to stay on, but I’ve met so many people through it.
