I have to admit something. Sometimes I feel like I'm the biggest impostor when learning bioinformatics tools, especially when it uses a new-to-me technology, such as Spark. Helping people through these feelings is often a sign of a successful software community.

I have to admit that sometimes it's hard to ask for help, or even know what I need to ask for help. But definitely seeing the progress with communities such as @Bioconductor has been really encouraging.

So, I guess, new learners: It's not always easy to understand how to use something, especially research software. If the community is good, they'll value your questions.
