  1. #rstats twitter: realizing that one of the things I need to do is help people establish their own mental models of cloud computing. Does anyone have a good figure showing how users interact with a platform?

      Thinking of it like this: 1) requesting resources, 2) transferring data, 3) running code, 4) getting back results, and most of the time: 5) debugging why jobs fail.

        I think we definitely underestimate what a barrier to usage this is. It is hard won knowledge by engineers, and even harder for users to learn.

          I can hear people saying "Well, it depends on whether it's PaaS, SaaS, IaaS", but I think there is a framework for explaining how users interact with the cloud. And no, the answer is not "have an engineer do it."
