              1. Hi Everyone. I ended up redoing my website with {distill}. Still adding things back (paring down teaching resources), but the majority of my blog posts are there now. #RStats laderast.github.io

Some thoughts on the migration. Collections are really useful for grouping blog posts and articles, but they are a little underdocumented. My migration process was half-automated, half manual.

If you want your posts to be listed, you need to have "output: distill::distill article" and a "description" fields for each.

But moving articles/posts from collection to collection is quite easy now. Just move the entire folder for an article, and rebuild. Very nice.

I'm a big fan of using the Build tab to rebuild the website. No more worrying about getting the Hugo versions correct in my config. The main thing I'm missing from the {blogdown} site are the widgets, but I can live without them.

Source code is here: github.com/laderast/laderast.github.io I ended up just swapping out branches for the website. Still working on how to do redirects from links in my old blog.

I kind of wish I'd bought a custom domain before I sent everyone to laderast.github.io. But you can change the _site folder name in site.yml to "docs" and serve directly out of that.

Anyhow, I highly recommend {distill} for its streamlined workflow. It was relatively painless to transition from {blogdown}. Also, a good opportunity to think about licensing for my articles and blog posts and such.
